REGEMAC© winner of the Road Innovation Competition 2011.

In 2011, REGEMAC © was declared winner of the French Road Innovation Competition. REGEMAC allow the production of PMB from aged bitumen. With REGEMAC, the reclaimed asphalt pavements are recycled without rate limiting. Chemically cross linked elastomeric binders are obtained. REGEMAC hot mix asphalt produced, offer a solution to the problems of the durability and firmness of wearing course with very heavy traffic.

Environmental stakes

  • 1000 million tons of aged asphalt making roads pavement layers recover our planet.
  • 50 million tons of bitumen et 900 million tons of aggregates  are used yearly to produce the 950 million tons of new asphalt required by roads worldwide.

 

FENIXFALT © is clearly part of the sustainable development projects scheme for roads

  • avoids importing and refining 1 barrel of oil
  • gives value to 50 kg of aged bitumen
  • saves 950 kg of aggregates

 

 

 

FENIXFALT © generates a substantial energy saving not only on extraction, production, and transportation of new aggregates and bitumen which would have been required to produce asphalt with new materials, but also thanks to its granule form which allows for a reduction of of heat consumption required by new bitumen all along its life cycle between refinery and road usage.

 

Grenelle EnvironnementTo use FENIXFALT means to contribute to:

  • reduce the number of extraction sites, costs and nuisances associated with production and distribution of materials
  • reduce reprocessing/disposal costs of aged asphalts
  • limit production of grenhouse gas by reducing CO2 emissions (refining, warehousing, and transportation of materials)

       REGEMAC Hot Mix Asphalt example produced under a project carried out under the assessment procedure of the 2011.

       Innovation Competition Road: BBSG 5.2% of AC with 40% of RAP (RAP: 4.5% of old asphalt cement), supplemented

       with 3.4% of new conventional bitumen.
